Hitchin Rugby Club under 15s made history at the weekend when both the A-squad and the B-squad were confirmed as league champions. The A-squad won the Herts & Middlesex division 3 league championship and the B-squad (pictured below) made it a famous double by winning the division 6 crown.
The under 15s are trailblazers in the Hitchin Mini & Youth section by being able to sustain two full-strength squads for the last few years. This season both squads were unbeaten with famous victories against 'big clubs' such as Cheshunt, Harrow and Twickenham for the A-squad and against Bedford, Hertford and Tring for the Bs.
Their historical double championships mean they look forward to taking two coach-loads to Twickenham for the league presentation ceremonies and to well-deserved promotions next season.
Phil Dickson-Earle, Chairman of the Hitchin M&Y said, "We're immensely proud of the achievements of both under 15 squads this year. They'll be an inspiration to next season's under 13s who'll also be fielding two squads in the league for the first time next year." He added, "Hitchin is a community club and new players are always welcome into all our age-groups."
