Hitchin U17 59 v Bletchley U17 0
Some excellent rugby played on a foul morning, with the match moved to the 4th team pitch as there was standing water elsewhere. Luckily the rain eased off for the match which helped the handling.
Bletchley put up a stubborn defence and never gave up, but Hitchin were generally quicker, stronger and more united and had the lion’s share of possession and territory. The ball was recycled well, passed out wide for the wingers and the scores came regularly, with Harry on fire with the conversions. Some of the off-loading and support play was excellent, but there was also much that could have been better, particularly at the breakdown where too many lacked the necessary intensity and tackles were still too high.
Thanks to the seven U16s that played; they slotted in well and enjoyed playing ‘the Academy way’
