After a great start to the League programme the break in games caused by the foul cold frosty weather has brought a first defeat. Playing on a pitch that was more puddle than grass, the team never really managed to get up to match speed after such a long break. Kilburn were fired up and Hitchin spent most of the game defending. It was a day when the ball was a bar of soap, hands were wet and cold and the crucial pass never went to hand for Hitchin. This was not helped by the team missing some key first choice players and having a number of people out of position. Although we tried to re-organise, we just never clicked on the day in attack. Despite the defeat, there were a number of positives - the team had 16 players (though had to only use 13 at a time as Kilburn were short) so get a bonus point as well as a losing point so only 2 points lost; the defence was excellent, only leaking 12 points when camped in one's own 22 area is robust defence and yet another new player made her debut. The team will be working on aggressive attack running before the next game to bring better precision and and go-forward. There are still plenty of games left and the title is still ours to lose as all other teams have lost games (more than us in many cases). In a way it takes the pressure off though we must make sure we do not slip up again if possible.
