The U8s hedgehogs split their squad in two with one squad training and the other squad travelling to play Cheshunt. The weather was cold but bright and and the pitches at Cheshunt were very muddy indeed!
The hedgehogs fielded two teams of 7 and Cheshunt had 7 players. The U8s pitch was not as muddy as some of the other areas but was on almost a 45 degree angle up hill!
The Cheshunt players were actually well balanced and had some good quality. Hitchin started off proceedings with a well organised formation and attacked hard notching up quick scores. Cheshunt found it hard to contain our hedgehogs and we displayed some great support and passing play. The first match contained some great running and movement and it was pleasing to see skills coming through from our training sessions winning the game 3-5. The second game was even more convincing with the hedgehogs pressing stronger and showing great commitment making tag after tag to turn the ball over. We retained possession very well and went on to exploit the gaps and utilise the available space resulting in a 3-7 victory. For the final game we lent one of our players to Cheshunt and both teams played with added vigour and spirit which was both enjoyable and exciting to watch. The game became even more competitive and the hedgehogs pressed hard to complete a 5-7 victory.
It was another outstanding U8s display Winning all their matches against a really good Cheshunt team.
All the players performed very well as a team and individuals and it was very challenging to pick any players out form this display – Well done Hedgehogs!
Players of the Match – Osian Jones & Luke Andrews
The U8s were fantastic and remain Unbeaten for the season thus far!
Congratulations and Well Done.
