Short and sweet due to time restraints this week I am afraid ! What can you say about a game in which we scored 7 good tries 4 conversions and a penalty and still lost in the dying moments of the game. It was a very different Old Mills team that faced us at the whistle from the outfit we have played and beaten before , most of us were old enough to father our opposite number and we knew we were in for a tough match.
There were a few South African accents evident and as it turned out we were playing what was effectively a College team with their coach and a couple of Old Mills regulars thrown in. Having said that it was a hell of a game in which everyone again contributed to a great performance which with a bit more concentration in defence could have been the win of the season. Highlights were a Hat trick from Mark Gibson a brilliant kicking game by Mick Jones and another performance in the line out which left me wondering if Simon Elves hair is really turning white or is it the frost from the high altitude he spends his time at during games ?
Great to see Kevin Lok back and also to see Jon Harrison scoring another try to go with the Jones brothers fine tries in the backs. Thanks also to Colin Nation for dropping down the teams to help us out this week ,we should have our own Craig Jones back next week. We will put this one down to experience and get back to winning next week against Southgate !
