Hitchin were outplayed at Old Hale Way in their second match back in London NW3
Although the forwards were well matched in the scrum, with the home side edging the contest, the Hitchin lineouts filed to function and presented the strong Cheshunt backs with too much ball
He visitors made good use of the strong wind, kicking well to find space behind the Hitchin defence throughout the first half
Hitchin kicked off but were immediately on the defensive and couldn’t get hold of the ball to make any inroads into the Cheshunt half. Twenty minutes into the game Cheshunt went over for a converted try and five minutes later they identified a mismatch in midfield and went over for another under the posts.
The visitors scored two more tries for the bonus point before the break.
They started the second half in the same vein scoring a converted try and then an interception
Hitchin finally got some attacking moves going and Ross Howard was the recipient of a scoring pass from Dominic Baber - Norris for a try which went unconverted.
Cheshunt replied with an unconverted try of their own before Hitchin had the final word with a try from Will Evans from a scrum 10m out which was converted by Ben Wiggins.
